Coventry residents holding Solidarity vigil for women on hunger strike in Yarl’s Wood Immigration Detention Centre.
· Every year the Home Office locks up nearly 30,000 people, including asylum seekers, children, pregnant women, those with mental illness and survivors of torture, trafficking and rape
· The UK is the only country in Europe that locks people up with no limit on how long they can be held.

· Coventry Asylum And Refugee Action Group (CARAG) are supporting the detainees to end these injustices and to see that there is fairness in how immigration issues are handled by Home Office.
Coventry Asylum And Refugee Action Group (CARAG) will hold a vigil on Wednesday 7th March 2018 at Coventry City Centre Broadgate from 4:30pm-5pm in support of the demands by the women who are on hunger strike in Yarl’s Wood Detention Centre.
Many people in Coventry have had their lives touched by Immigration detention; CARAG is therefore inviting members of the public to join these peaceful vigils to help raise the voices of women suffering in Yarl’s Wood Immigration Detention Centre
Stephina, Coventry resident, former Yarl’s Wood Detainee and Campaigner on immigration detention says 'You don't need to know some-one personally to be part of their freedom fight. "For example Mandela saw the need for freedom for those he saw as his children, friends, brothers, mothers, fathers, grandparents and neighbours who made a country a whole, so he began a journey of change for that freedom. So they joined hands with family, friends, neighbours, and a whole lot of strangers with a common need 'Change'. Remember there is power in unity. Our Yarl's Wood sisters have started a cause with a purpose, so let us join them and complete it with a purpose.'
Immigration detention does not help control immigration. It costs millions. It destroys lives.
